AGGREGATES

SAND

Sand is one of the oldest building materials. Individual particles or grains can be seen with the naked eye. Sand consists of coarse particles, and according to the unique classification system, particles with a size of 0.075mm – 4.75mm are categorized as sand.

Sand is an aggregate of coarse, sharp, angular particles without cohesion. Sand is one of the raw materials for concrete (as a fine aggregate). When used as a base, the sand must be compacted before the start of construction – then the settlement will be low.

GRAVEL

Gravel is an aggregate of rounded or angular fragments of rocks and minerals. According to the unique classification system, the particle sizes reach 76.2 mm and are categorized as gravel. Gravel has a high load capacity.

Bearing capacity means the safe load per unit area that the soil can support. Gravel can support huge structures without any signs of subsidence.

SEPARATION

Depending on the purpose, there is a need for grains of a certain size. Then separation, i.e. sieving, is done to obtain different types of fractions, i.e. separation/fraction groups: from 1 to 5, depending on the diameter. Fractions are 0‒4mm, 4‒8mm, 8‒16mm, 16‒31.5mm and over 31.5mm.

This is a gravel consisting of small, fine grains, with sharp edges, which makes it the perfect material for making concrete. It has a certain strength, so it is ideal for concreting and masonry. In addition to concreting, it can also be used for other fine works, as a screed for layers under parquet and for laminates. Also, like other types of gravel, it can be used for tamping and filling.

It has a certain strength, so it is ideal for plastering and masonry, and thanks to its quality, it does not have to be mixed with sand. In addition to plastering, it can also be used for other fine works, such as gluing ceramic tiles, for layers under parquet and for laminates. Also, like other types of gravel, it can be used for filling.

FRACTION 1

Fraction I, with a diameter of 0‒4mm is called a unit. It weighs around 1,400 kg/m3. This fraction consists of small and fine grains, which makes it the perfect material for making mechanical mortar, making liners, as a basic fraction for all types of concrete.
